QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -

The YMCA in Quincy is helping local students stay warm this fall.

The Y is collecting new or gently used children's sweatpants, sweatshirts and shoes during the month of September.

The collected items will then be passed out to students at Adams Elementary.

Officials said because there was so much success during the annual coat drive, the organization wanted to do something in the fall to help out local students.

"It's just kind of a good way for us to join with the community and help out members of the community and help our local schools by partnering with them in this event," YMCA Marketing Director Michelle Terwelp said. "We also are trying to get people in here to be active and healthy this fall."

You can drop off at the YMCA during normal business hours.

New members that donate will receive their first month free.
