Crash closes Route 6 in Lewis County

The Missouri Department of Transportation says Missouri Route 6 was closed Thursday afternoon in Lewis County because of a crash.

In a news release, MoDOT reported the road was closed at Missouri Route 16, near Lewistown.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. Eric Brown said a semi carrying an oversize load on Route 6 got stuck trying to turn onto Route 16. He said a grain truck in traffic struck another vehicle when the driver tried to move forward.

"No one was injured," Brown said. "It just caused a mess out there."

Traffic was being detoured onto Missouri Route 156 to Lewis County Route J and then back to Route 6.

The road was back open as of 3 p.m.
