QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -

Dozens of residents celebrated 30 years of a local organization's devotion to Quincy tourism.

Friends of the Castle held an open house at Villa Kathrine marking the start as Quincy's Official Tourist Information Center. The group helped save and restore the building and then 30 years ago began volunteering to help tourists coming into the area.

Officials urge residents, everybody should visit Villa Kathrine.

"It's your building," Trudy Rollins, Friends of the Castle president, said. "It's Quincy's gem on the bluff. It's the one phrase we always like to use. It does belong to the community. It can be rented."

Friends of the Castle is a membership organization that welcomes new members or volunteers. You can get more information by calling Betty Poore at 217-224-6922.
