The community had the opportunity to see what life was like in Quincy during the 1800s at an event Saturday.

Frontier Settlement Day took place at the Log Cabin Village on Quinsippi island.

There were plenty of hands-on activities for kids and adults.

Activities included how to cut ice, casting iron, and furniture design.

Abraham Lincoln made a visit and children got to interact with him and see what chores he had to do when hew was a child.

"We're so lucky to have this rich history around us and it's important for our children to see this," said Janet Summy a master gardener who help showed what gardening was like in the 1800s. "This is where we all came from and it's a wonderful part of our life that use to be."

Organizers said about 600 guests came out to Saturday's event.
