CARTHAGE, Ill. (WGEM) -- The senior class at Illini West has turned into an extra special one, especially when it comes to athletics.
Earlier this week a dozen student athletes from that class signed on the dotted line, including Jacob Deitrich and Kevin White.
Deitrich is taking talents on the links to Black Hawk College in the Quad Cities while White will run cross country at Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg.
Both have fairly similar reasons for their decisions.
"I've always like the Quad Cities area and I knew (Black Hawk) has a successful program, too," Deitrich said.
"That's kind of what I was looking for and I went and visited, and I really liked their coach."
According to White, "There's a lot of kids on the cross country program and (Carl Sandburg) Coach (Rodney) Blue works hard individually with each and every one of them, and that's something I look for in a coach. Coach Blue's coaching style is very unique."
The charge to the next level rolled on with Gabe Castillo and Katie Rhodes.
Castillo plans to wrestle at Lincoln College, which is making the jump to the NAIA level, and Rhodes chose to continue her basketball career at Lincoln Land Community College.
Both are at ease with their choices.
"I had some other schools I was looking into and I really liked what Lincoln set for me," Castillo indicated.
"The coach and I just clicked from the get go, (and) it's a really nice future for me."
According to Rhodes, "It was a really good connection right off the bat and the girls were all really nice, and welcoming, and it felt like the right place to go. I want to become more of a shooter than I have been in the past, and I'm going to focus on my shooting in the summer."
Last but certainly not least one of the top Illini West volleyball players is also moving forward. Kelly Sirtak made her commitment to MacMurray College official on Wednesday.
