QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -

Families in Quincy got a history lesson Sunday afternoon on Quinsippi Island.

The log cabin village hosted an open house event.

Cabins were opened up for the public to tour. The Friends of the Log Cabins have helped keep the historic structures in good shape.

President John Gebhardt said the event showcases a rich history of the Quincy area, and helps families find out more about the past.

"Three of them were actually log cabin homes that were on farms around the area, and then there's a log corn crib and a log church." Gebhardt said. "The log church is actually from an old barn that they took the logs out of and remade the church so we had a church in the village."

The cabins will also be open to the public during Lincoln in the District in June.
