QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -

South Park in Quincy was closed Monday morning from 10 a.m. to Noon as kart racers test out the track in preparation for the Quincy Grand Prix this summer.

Young Racers from Margay Racing who were testing out the track say they have grown up hearing about the track and race and they said the track has lived up to all of the expectations.

"Old national champions that tell us a lot about this track. They tell us how scary it was back in the day and how big it was to win it and how many people always came. It's an awesome track. It really lives up to what it say it is," said Gage Rucker, a racer for Margay Racing. "It's probably going to be one of the most fun races I've ever ran. Just from practicing today, it's already a blast."

The Quincy Grand Prix will be on June 9th and 10th at South Park and is free for the public.

Quincy Grand Prix, Inc. race organizer Terry Traeder previously said that 200 racers were expected for the event.
