After a busy weekend for lawmakers in Iowa, candidates hit the campaign trail to push people to the polls and vote early.

Democratic Candidate for Governor, Nate Boutlon held 12 rallies Monday morning.

He led a rally in Polk County, so state representative Jerry Kearns spoke for him at the rally in Lee County.

A handful of people were there and said they are hopeful that this election brings a lot of change to the ballot for November.

"He has a lot of positive vision for the state, supporter Mary Jo Riesberg said. "Not just how can we fix and repair what happened but what kind of state do we want Iowa to be in the next 20 years. What kind of future do we want to have and it's a positive vision."

The state senator is running against five other candidates on the ballot.

He hopes to improve public schools, provide a better atmosphere in the workplace, and bring more jobs to rural areas.
