After years of lagging security, Quincy Regional Airport now has additional security cameras in place to better protect passengers. 

Airport Director Terrance Ward says he does a safety and security inspection every year.

This past check he found there was a need for additional security cameras.

At Monday night's meeting, Quincy City Council approved the invoice for the cameras. The cost for the cameras was about $3,000.

"This also gives people that added safety," said Ward. "This is the real world. Airports are vulnerable and we just decreased our vulnerability by adding the increased security."

Also at Monday night's city council meeting, alderman approved the renewal contract for TSA at the airport. Ward says having TSA at Quincy's airport is just another added layer of security for passengers.
