QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -

Monday started the new fiscal year for the city of Quincy and with that came three properties set to be demolished under the city's Fix-or-Flatten program.

The three properties set to be demolished are 535 Lind, 705 Washington and 616/618 College Street.

The city's Fix-or-Flatten program has been stalled due to the recent budget woes. However, with a new fiscal year underway city officials say they can move forward with demolition at a cost of about $43,000 for all three properties.

"It's always good to start a new fiscal year because we have a fresh budget to start with and we typically, on demolitions, spend every dime we have," said Quincy Planning and Development Director Chuck Bevelheimer. "It's always good to have new monies from the city council to go after other properties."

The contractor now has to complete the demolition permit application and then start taking the houses apart. Officials hope the demolition process with start within the next two to three weeks.
