Paying bills is causing anxiety for Americans

Many Americans are dealing with financial anxiety due to paying bills according to a poll done by the American Psychiatric Association.

The United Way of Adams County refers people in financial crisis to different agencies with their helpline and Morgan Parker, director of programs and services said they see a lot of working families asking for help.

"Someone that can really just listen to the client and someone who can actually cares and is compassionate and wants to pass them to an agency to full their needs in their time of crisis, " Parker said.

The United Way referred 1,200 people to assistance agencies last year according to Parker.

Wealth Advisor Craig Moncey with IPI Wealth Management, said he has seen people stressed due to not prioritizing paying bills first along with not saving money for an emergency expense.

He recommends saving 10 percent from each paycheck and carrying cash.
