CENTER, Mo. (WGEM) -- It's something that's becoming a regular occurrence at Mark Twain High School - senior student athletes signing on the dotted line to continue their careers at Hannibal-LaGrange University.

Lynsie Boling and Shelby Hayes made their commitments official on Tuesday.

Boling will compete in softball while Hayes is moving forward in track and field.

"It means a lot because I never thought that I would ever play college sports," Boling said.

"It was never really a thought to me, and then hearing back from (HLGU) Coach (Dan) Hurst asking if I would be interested in playing, that was just an honor to me."

According to Hayes, "It's exciting. I know I can progress in track especially with the help of the coaches, and with their help, I'm ready to go out there and give it my all."

Boling and Hayes are two of five Mark Twain seniors who have pledged HLGU in recent weeks.

Devin Neff, Sara Spoonhower, and Grant Peters, have also agreed to join the Trojans.
