MACOMB, Ill. (WGEM) -

The McDonough County fair is underway as kids are competing in a number of 4-H activities all week long.

The fair is going on right now and includes a variety of 4-H competitions and activities all week long. Kids ages 8 -18 are competing in sewing, baking, visual arts, leadership programs and in the show barn, all for a chance to represent McDonough County at the Illinois State Fair in August.

McDonough County 4-H Program Coordinator Beth Chatterton said this week is when judges come to see projects that kids have been working on all year long.

"They bring projects and talk to judges about what they've learned all year and their experiences and then they get ribbons," Chatterton said. "They get blue, red and white ribbons and then out of the project areas, we choose members to go to the state fair."

The fair goes on until Friday morning and you can find a breakdown of the scheduled events here.
