LEE COUNTY, Ia. (WGEM) -

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office reported Monday that they had made an arrest and identified the body of a female found on Sunday in rural Lee County.

The Sheriff's Office stated Monday that the body has been identified as Sadie Alvarado, 20, of Muscatine, Iowa. She was found dead just before 11 a.m. Sunday on 235th Avenue, south of West Point, Iowa.

Authorities said Damian Hamann, 28, of Morning Sun, Iowa, turned himself in Sunday and was charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in a Death.

A criminal complaint filed by the Lee County Attorney's Office stated that Hamann stated to officers that early on Sunday, his girlfriend, Alvarado, and he had argued. He stated she jumped out of his vehicle on 235th Avenue.

The complaint stated that Hamann told officers that he returned with his vehicle to his home in Morning Sun and returned to Lee County after noon on Sunday to look for Alvarado.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday at the University of Iowa’s Decedent Care Unit.

This is a joint investigation by the Iowa Department of Public Safety’s Division of Criminal Investigation, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Lee County Attorney’s Office and the Lee County Medical Examiner’s Office.
