HANNIBAL, Mo. (WGEM) -

The Hannibal library book sale kicked off Thursday, with thousands of books available for purchase.

Librarians said the event that happens twice a year is a way for the library to sell books that aren't being used as much anymore. Paperback books are 25 cents, hardback books are 50 cents, audio and video materials are a dollar each, and magazines are 10 cents each.

"Books are, and reading are probably the key to any kind of success, you will not find someone who is successful, who does not read," said Hannibal Library Board President Kim Ahrens.

Library Board President Kim Ahrens says the sale is a great way for the library to free up space for new books in the library.
