New Quincy Mayor Mike Troup sworn in
QUINCY (WGEM) -- New Quincy Mayor Mike Troup was sworn in at Monday night’s city council meeting in front of family, friends and supporters.
Troup said he has a big agenda in the coming weeks, including getting acquainted around city hall.
Troup said several things he and his staff have been working on include potholes and safe housing, and expects to discuss some of the projects in detail in the coming weeks.
“The aldermen have been working on it committees have been working on it,” said Troup.
“We’ve got some big announcements this week like at the airport, we’re going to have the groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday is a huge deal for Quincy and for any of our travelers, so that we’ve got a lot of good news good things happening.”
Mayor Troup said city administration will stay mostly the same, except for a new administrative assistant as the previous one retired, and a new human resources person will start May 17th.
Mayor Troup said he’s also looking into increasing staff at central services after complaints about short staffing.
Troup said part of the challenge in adding staff is finding room in the current budget, something he expects to be able to address more later this month.
