QUINCY (WGEM) - The Great River Honor Flight, which flies veterans out to see the monuments in Washington, D.C., was awarded with six thousand dollars on Wednesday.

The Mid-America Chuck Wagon Association presented the donation.

They raised the money during their 2021 Mid-America Chuck Wagon Roundup in Shelbina, Missouri in June.

The secretary of the Mid-America Chuck Wagon Association says the donation gives back to those who served.

“It’s honoring our people that put us where we are at today,” said Don Collop. “I mean you know, if it wasn’t for these men and women, we wouldn’t even have a country.”

The Great River Honor Flight is not flying veterans right now. Those flights have been on hold since the pandemic began. The plan right now is to resume flights sometime in 2022.
