WGEM (QUINCY) - Quincy Notre Dame head coach Jack Cornell and his players keenly understand what will be at stake on this “Football Friday Night!” The (6-3) Raiders will open the IHSA Class 4A State Playoffs on the gridiron in just 48 hours with a home date scheduled against Civic Memorial. The winner will move on to the second round of the state playoffs while the loser will see their season come to an end along with all dreams of winning a trip to DeKalb to compete for a state championship on the campus of the University of Northern Illinois during Thanksgiving Weekend.

The (6-3) Eagles will venture to “The Gem City” ready to take on the “Blue and Gold” who are coming off of a big 51-6 win on the road last Friday against Marquette Catholic in Alton, Illinois. By coincidence, Civic Memorial has also faced the Explorers of MC. The two teams meet during Week 1 of the season with the Eagles pulling out a convincing 48-7 victory on the road.

Civic Memorial is now (4-1) playing away from home this season while the Raiders are just (3-2) playing at home. Right now both QND and CM are riding high on 2-game winning streaks as they countdown to kickoff on Friday at 7:00 p.m.

Recently, the WGEM Sports-Cam ventured to 10th & Jackson to check in with Raiders senior standouts Calvin Lavery and Nolan Obert about this weeks post-season opener set for Advance Physical Therapy Field. We’ll have the latest...
