Keokuk voters choose Mahoney as next mayor
KEOKUK, Iowa (WGEM) – Keokuk voters elected Kathie Mahoney as the city’s next mayor on Tuesday.
Mahoney will replace the incumbent Mayor Tom Richardson, who did not run for reelection.
Mahoney beat out challengers Devon Dade and Carol Mardis in the city election.
Mahoney received 648 votes, Dade had 518 and Mardis had 442.
Mahoney, who was a code enforcement officer for the city of Keokuk, said she wants to bring positivity to Keokuk.
“I think we need to look into the future as far as what we can do for our town, but I also think we need to correct everything that are problems right now,” Mahoney said.
Mahoney will take office on January 1, 2022.
