Hannibal high rise fire forces residents to evacuate

HANNIBAL (WGEM) - An overnight fire forced residents of a Hannibal apartment building to evacuate.
Firefighters were called just before 1 a.m. Wednesday to the Hannibal Housing Authority high rise at 100 N. 11th St.
Fire officials on scene said the fire was contained to one room on the third floor. The room was occupied, but no one was home when the fire started.
Firefighters said no one was hurt.
Fire Investigator Mark Kempker said 69 residents were evacuated.
An investigation is now underway to determine the cause of the fire. A police/fire investigation vehicle was on scene.
