QUINCY (WGEM) - We have a cold front that is pushing on through the Midwest and it is sparking showers and it is sparking some thunderstorms some of those thunderstorms to the south and south west of us are of the severe variety. As the storm approaches the Tri-State area it the storms will not be severe. However it is possible we could hear a few rumbles of thunder along with the rain showers. It’s quick hitter. It moves in and moves out rapidly. While we’re kind of focused on the rain. And the colder temperatures that slide in the backside of the system what may be really the big story is it’s going to be very windy. This storm is tightly rapped. We’re forecasting 20 mile an hour wind with gusts to 30 miles an hour and that may not be enough, especially out in the counties. Out in the rural areas we may see wind gust an excess of 40 miles an hour. So a wind advisory is possible for the Tri-State area. We will have to keep an eye on that as the system wraps up and rolls through the Tri-States.
