QUINCY (WGEM) - Do you have a fire safety plan in place? Fire officials are stressing the importance of having one after a fire at a Hannibal high-rise fire forced tenants to evacuate overnight on Wednesday.

Firefighters responded to a fire at 100 North 11th street just before 1:00 a.m.

All 69 tenants made it out, and no one was hurt.

Fire Investigator Mark Kempker said having a safety plan in place is more important now than ever.

“We are getting ready to go into the season where we have more fires in your houses, with Thanksgiving, and Christmas. So, take time to talk to your family. Know that your smoke alarms work. Have that escape plan in place. Have a meeting place outside, and please practice,” Kempker said.

Kempker said it’s important to check your smoke detectors on a regular basis.

Meanwhile, Kempker said the cause of the high rise fire is still under investigation.
