QUINCY (WGEM) - Children across the Tri-States will be getting new beds to sleep on this holiday season.

The Kiwanis Club and Sleep in Heavenly Peace built beds in Camp Point, Illinois, on Saturday for children who do not have a comfortable place to sleep.

Due to their efforts, over 40 children ages three to 17 will get a bed.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace Liberty Area president Emilie Schulte said she’s thankful she gets to play a part in helping these kids.

“A bed is something that we all take for granted,” she said. “Who knew that there are kids sleeping on palettes on the floor or piles of laundry? They don’t have pillows or blankets. They’re sharing spaces on the floor with their siblings so we found out about it and we had to help.”

Sleep in Heavenly Peace is looking for donations of comforters, mattress protectors, and money to buy mattresses.

You can message their Facebook page to make a donation.
