Man arrested after Pittsfield stabbing
PITTSFIELD, Ill. (WGEM) - A man has been arrested for a stabbing that caused the victim to be airlifted to Springfield for treatment.
Pittsfield police said it happened in the 100 block of West Adams Street when the 51-year-old suspect stabbed a 61-year-old victim in the neck with a knife. Neither have been identified yet.
Police said the victim was flown to St. John’s Hospital in Springfield and is considered stable with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police report the suspect was arrested near the scene and is being held at the Pike County Jail.
The Pittsfield Police Department is being assisted by the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigators.
Police report this is an ongoing investigation and no other information will be released at this time. They said more information will be released Monday.
