Horizons Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry hosts annual Thanksgiving meal
QUINCY (WGEM) - Tri-State residents who might not be able to afford a Thanksgiving meal had the opportunity to enjoy some turkey and all the fixings Wednesday at Horizons Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry.
The pantry served more than 250 people, which was only 50 fewer than last year. They served turkey, mashed potatoes, vegetables and dessert at lunch time.
Horizons Director Sarah Stephens said there’s always a need to serve people in our community.
“So for many of us we take for granted the opportunity to be able to sit around a table with our family and friends and have a Thanksgiving feast and so a lot of people don’t have that,” she said. “For us to be able to offer that today is just an incredible blessing.”
Stephens said they are collecting holiday-themed foods at the pantry, like canned ham, potatoes and stuffing.
The food pantry is open from 2-4 p.m. Sundays and from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mondays
