Local movie theaters prepare for influx of customers on Thanksgiving
QUINCY (WGEM) - Local movie theaters are preparing for an influx of customers on Thursday night as some families go to the movies as a Thanksgiving tradition.
VIP Quincy 3 Cinemas opened at 10 a.m. on Thanksgiving with matinee showings.
General Manager Bill Blaine said he expects to see between 200 and 300 people.
Blaine said going to see a movie on Thanksgiving is a longstanding tradition for many families, including his own.
“When I was a kid, me and my cousins would go to a movie after dinner or lunch, just always did when we got together. It’s one of the things we always looked forward to doing. Of course people still do that today,” he said.
Blaine said the pandemic caused fewer people to come to the theater last year, but he expects a larger number this holiday season.
“We have had a really kind of excellent year with people getting back into that flow and coming back through. And then you get a holiday like this, where that’s a tradition for a lot of people to go to a show, so it’s been a good thing,” Blaine said.
The last show time at Quincy VIP 3 Cinemas is at 8 p.m.
