HANNIBAL (WGEM) - A Hannibal man was sentenced Wednesday to 40 years in prison on charges of statutory sodomy in the first degree and child molestation in the second degree, according to Marion County Prosecuting Attorney Luke Bryant.

Bryant reported Thursday that after a two-day trial in October a Marion County jury found Tory Lee Whitfield, 42, of Hannibal guilty of committing the offenses against a female child in May of 2019.

Bryant explained the victim was 8 years old when she disclosed the sexual abuse to a forensic interviewer in June 2019.

During the trial, the victim testified about the abuse and her forensic interviewer testified regarding the circumstances surrounding the disclosure, Bryant said.

The jury sentenced Whitfield to 25 years for statutory sodomy and 15 years for child molestation, all sentences to be served consecutively to each other, for a total of 40 years.
