QUINCY (WGEM) - Singers, actors and musicians from John Wood Community College entertained families Friday night all while getting them in the holiday spirit during a live performance.

The JWCC Fine Arts Department put on their holiday music concert on campus before the end of the semester.

They sang Christmas and Broadway songs as part of a showcase.

John Wood Professor of Music and Theatre Steven Soebbing said they started practicing for the performance in October, and are grateful to have a sense of normalcy once again.

“Music is just really a wonderful thing that gives a lot of camaraderie and togetherness,” Soebbing said. “It’s really great now after the pandemic when we couldn’t do these things for so long that were finally able to come together and have a performance.”

Soebbing said if you are not a student at JWCC, you can still take part in the choir.

If you are interested in joining the choir, he said you can sign up with enrollment open now.
