Quincy road crews take advantage of warm weather to continue repairs
QUINCY (WGEM) - You might not be the only one taking advantage of the warmer-than-usual weather.
Instead of plowing snow like they sometimes have to do this time of year, crews in Quincy were out resurfacing roads and filling potholes Friday as the conditions were perfect for the work.
Central Services Assistant Director John Schafer said the city returned the pothole truck they had been renting over the summer, so crews had to do it the old-fashioned way.
“With looking at the forecast and that, these guys have been working on that for the last few days. They’ve been laying potholes, so, we’ve got a list going of people who called and said they want to get potholes filled, so once we get through that list we’ll start going through the grid in town and just start checking as we go,” Schafer said.
Schafer said while the city is getting fewer complaints about potholes, he knows winter weather will bring more issues.
“We’ll do that as need-be right now and obviously, as we get the freezing and thawing over the winter, we’ll have some more I’m sure,” Schafer said.
Schafer said if you notice any potholes, or other problems with the roads, call the Central Services Department at (217) 228-4520.
