QUINCY (WGEM) - A Christmas tradition entered its fourth year Friday as Santa boarded the Zephyr express in Quincy to travel to Macomb, according to officials.

Along with him went children of all ages, mascots, and even some historical characters.

They had cookies and refreshments to eat and drink on their way to Macomb.

Amtrak Government Affairs and Corporate Communications director Derrick James said the event this year is extra special because of the pandemic last year.

“Folks are just really glad to get back together with family and there is nothing that evokes family during the holidays than a train ride. So we’re glad to be part of that,” James said.

Once Santa arrived at the train station in Macomb, James said he went directly to his cabin on the north side of the square where he greeted kids and took pictures.

You can also see Santa on Saturday during Dickens on the Square, which runs all day in downtown Macomb.
