QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) -The 97th Annual Monroe City Basketball Invitational got underway this evening. Games are once again being held inside the Monroe City High and Middle School Gym’s this week. Top-Seeded Monroe City is set to return to action on Tuesday on their home court. WGEM’s Jake Rongholt caught up with Panthers head coach Brock Edris to get a little insight on MCHS as they prepare to tip-off against the 8th-seeded Mustangs of Marion County.

In the Western Big 6 Conference ranks, the (4-1) Blue Devils of Quincy will return to action on the prep hardwood Tuesday evening against Rock Island-Alleman. Earlier today at Blue Devil Gym, the “Blue and White” returned to practice after a day off on Sunday. QHS lost against Centralia on the road on Saturday night, and now they’re focusing in on beating the Pioneers on Tuesday to raise their conference slate to (2-0) on the season. The WGEM Sports-Cam caught up with Blue Devils head coach Andy Douglas during workouts to get his thoughts on what he thought QHS needed to improve on before tipping off against the Pioneers of AHS tomorrow at 7:00 p.m.
