QUINCY (WGEM) - Isabelle Hanson is used to being in the public eye. The 25-year-old from Glen Ellyn, Illinois, has been a reporter and weekend anchor at WGEM’s sister station KFVS in Cape Girardeau, Mo., for more than three years.

Over the next week, though, she will see the biggest spotlight of her life as she represents the state of Illinois in the Miss America pageant. Hanson sat down for an interview with WGEM Digital Content Editor Jason Lewton on Wednesday morning to discuss her journey to compete in the 100th Miss America pageant.

Q: Tell me a little bit about your journey to become Miss Illinois.

Q: What does it mean to you to be representing your home state?

Q: Is there anything that makes you nervous heading into the competition?

Q: Does your broadcasting career help you with pageants?

Q: Have you met many friends from pageants?

Q: What does the schedule look like for you?

The 100th anniversary Miss America pageant will stream Thursday, Dec. 16, on Peacock.
