Fire heavily damages Canton tire shop

CANTON, Mo. (WGEM) - Fire heavily damaged a tire shop in Canton, Missouri, early Monday morning.

Canton Fire Department Chief Joe LaCount said crews were called to Canton Tire and Automotive at 401 N. 4th St. just before 1 a.m.

LaCount said when crews arrived flames were coming from the roof of the building.

LaCount said it took crews until about 3 a.m. to put the fire out. The building is likely a total loss. He said half of the metal building was destroyed, but crews were able to salvage the main shop area.

LaCount said Monday morning that the state fire marshal had been on scene and concluded their investigation. He said the cause of the fire was ruled undetermined, and would likely remain that way due to the extent of damage to the building.

No injuries were reported.
