Blessing Health System receives grant to promote awareness

QUINCY (WGEM) -Blessing Health System was recently awarded $55,000 from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois’ Wellness Can’t Wait campaign.

The program gives money to health care organizations across the state to help them make communities aware of the resources they offer.

Blessing Corporate Services Sales and Promotional Coordinator Jayne Pieper said working with Blue Cross-Blue Shield is beneficial because they both have similar goals.

“Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois’ goal for this is to get community engagement,” Pieper said. “So by them partnering with people and organizations like the Blessing Health System, who already engages in the community, is a win-win

Last Saturday, Blessing and Blue Cross-Blue Shield hosted a health fair that featured information about mental health and diabetes, along with vaccinations.

Blessing officials say that they still have plenty of money left and are working to plan another event. The date and topic is to be determined as they are still working to see what need in the community needs to be addressed.
