QUINCY (WGEM) - People in Quincy were out Thursday preparing for the cold and snowy weather forecast for New Year’s Eve night.

Ace Hardware workers said since the forecast on Wednesday, they had seen a lot more customers coming in looking for all the winter weather basics like ice melt, salt, shovels, ice scrapers, and snow brushes.

Store director John McGee said even with the big rush, he should still have enough supply to make it through the weekend.

“We’ve got a whole other skid of ice melt in the back. I’ve got more snow shovels in the back. I’ve got five snow blowers ready to go,” McGee said. “The unique thing is, I’ve already sold about 10 of them this year. Snow blowers have been really hard to get just from the pandemic.”

McGee also recommends checking your furnace filter, and replacing it with predicted cold temperatures to follow the snow.
