QUINCY (WGEM) -Alexis Ellison signed her National Letter of Intent today, to continue her Academic and Athletic career at Western Illinois University. Ellison has been a key cog in Clark County’s Track and Field Program the last few years, and is looking to continue her success at the Division-1 level.

During her time with the Indians, She competed in various events, and recorded some impressive times. In the 100 meter dash, she recorded a p-r time of 12 point 4-9 seconds. In the 200 meter, she clocked in her best time at 25 point 9 seconds, and in the 400 meter, she recorded an impressive time at 1 minute and 1 second. We wish her the best of luck at the next level.

At John Wood Community College, Athletic Director “Brad Hoyt” announced on Wednesday evening, that Head Volleyball Coach, Madeleine Halford, has resigned and accepted a coaching job in Texas. Halford was charged with bringing back the volleyball program in 2018, after an eight year hiatus. During her three year stint with the Blazers, she had two winning seasons, and helped lead John Wood to the Region XXIV Semi-Finals each year.

while losing Halford might seem like a big blow to the volleyball squad, Athletic Director “Brad Hoyt” is confident the Program will continue to surge.

“I mean she really started it. I mean we went on an eight year hiatus without having volleyball on campus, and having something gone that long, you kind of forget how that day to day is, and you know we hired coach Halford just out of college to kind of come in an start it. You know, order everything. bring in a brand new roster, and to build a program. She did a remarkable job, and in her relationships she did a terrific job, and her game-planning and practice plans, she was terrific. so are volleyball program is on extremely solid ground thanks to coach Halford.”
