QUINCY, Ill. (WGEM) - Hannibal’s Aaris Stolte signed his National Letter of Intent with Maryville University. The speedy baseball infielder will continue his baseball career with the Saints. While he does have dreams to continue into the majors someday. One of the reasons he also chose Maryville was for the well respected physical therapy program. Stolte was also a member of the Complete Game summer baseball program.
Hannibal girls swimming had a good day at the Hannibal YMCA. Sarah Knickerbocker took 3rd in the 200 meter for the Lady Pirates. But who had the best showing was Madelyn Johnson winning the 200 yard freestyle in the four-team meet.
The Hancock County basketball tourney had the sense of deja vu. As Unity and Southeastern met up again for the first time since November 22nd in Beardstown. Meanwhile, another chapter of the Keokuk-West Hancock rivalry will be written. Last time these two teams met was in a double overtime thriller at Keokuk High School. The Chiefs escaped in a 43-38 victory.
