BUSHNELL, Ill. (WGEM) - A man was found dead Wednesday night on the side of a rural McDonough County road, the victim of an apparent hit and run.

About 10:33 p.m. Wednesday, McDonough/Schuyler County 911 received a call that a pedestrian that had been struck by a vehicle in Bushnell, Ill., on North 1900th Road near East 2000th Street.

The McDonough County Sheriff’s Office reports the caller said she had found a male on the side of the road who appeared to have been struck by a vehicle. Bushnell Fire, Bushnell Police, and Lifeguard Ambulance arrived at the scene, along with the McDonough County Sheriff’s Office. It was determined the involved vehicle fled the scene.

The Sheriff’s office reported county coroner pronounced the man dead at the scene.

The incident is under investigation by the McDonough County Sheriff’s Office and McDonough County Coroner’s Office.
