Snow complicates Quincy driving conditions
QUINCY (WGEM) - Snow falling all over Quincy made driving conditions difficult Friday night.
The thick, wet, heavy snow piled up faster the farther east drivers went but by the late evening, most intersections were filled with piles of slush.
Some drivers, Simon Vigor, said they were having difficulties getting to where they needed to go.
“I can’t see the lines, I’m just guessing,” Vigor said. “I’m making it though, I haven’t crashed yet.”
He said the snow began coming down quickly.
“I just got off work, and maybe a couple hours ago, and it just out of nowhere popped up, and even since then, snow has just been piling up,” Vigor said.
Quincy Central Services director Kevin McClean said the city had 12 big plows and two small plows available to clear city streets.
He said crews got out around 7 p.m. and will stay out until 7 a.m. Saturday.
Those at the Adams County Highway Department said they had 12 plows ready to get out on their routes when the snow began to fall.
They said they were not sure how long crews will be out as that will depend on the duration and amount of snow that falls.
