QUINCY (WGEM) - A wood-burning stove was to blame for a fire that destroyed a shed in Ralls County, Mo. Saturday morning, firefighters said.

Hannibal Rural Fire Chief Mike Dobson said firefighters were called to 10127 Highway O at 10:24 a.m. and found the building fully engulfed in flames.

Both the Hannibal Rural Fire Department and the New London Fire Department fought the fire for about an hour.

Dobson believes that the combination of the wood-burning stove, wooden furniture and gasoline stored in the shed caused the fire to be so extreme.

Dobson said it was difficult to get equipment to the scene. He said, due to a narrow bridge, firetrucks had to be parked away from the scene and hoses were pulled up to the shed.

“So we had to lay in a large diameter hose which took awhile,” Dobson said.” And just wanna make people aware if you are living in the rural areas, make sure the fire truck can get back to your homes.”

No one was hurt in the incident.

The investigation is still on-going.
