COVID-19 positivity rate in Lee County shoots up
LEE COUNTY, Iowa (WGEM) - The number of people testing positive for coronavirus in Lee County has gone up significantly over the past month.
Officials said Tuesday their seven-day positivity rate was 18.4 percent now when it was just six percent four weeks ago.
But community health program manager Emily Biddenstadt said the actual number of people testing positive is most likely higher.
“There are people taking at-home tests, or over the counter tests,” Biddenstadt said. “And so if they do one of those tests, that’s not counted in the number of tests we receive from the state we receive from the state.”
Biddenstadt said because the omicron variant is so contagious, people should continue wearing a mask and socially distancing.
She said they are still offering vaccination clinics every Wednesday from noon to 4 p.m.
