Barn catches fire near Liberty

LIBERTY, Ill. (WGEM) - A barn caught fire at 2134 Illinois 104 near Liberty.
Liberty Fire Chief Brad Denton said the homeowners were burning trash and the wind spread embers to the barn causing it to ignite.
Denton said the barn was vacant at the time of the fire.
According to officials, the fire started at 6:52 p.m. but escalated around 9:20 p.m. Denton said they got the fire out in about three hours.
Denton reported the freezing temperatures made it hazardous for the firefighters.
Central Adams County Fire Rescue, Liberty Fire Protection District, Payson-Fall Creek Fire Department and Adams County EMS responded to the fire.
EMS officials said no one was injured.
