HANNIBAL (WGEM) - Across the Tri-States, people are celebrating Independence Day.

In Hannibal, more than 50 floats lined Broadway for the 69th Annual National Tom Sawyer Days 4th of July Parade.

The parade was organized by the Hannibal Jaycees and kicked off National Tom Sawyer Days.

Organizers said they were glad the weather cleared up in time for the parade and said it’s great to see people from out of town visiting.

“It’s great for tourism, having people down here. It brings people from all around the Tri-States down here to enjoy the festivities and everything,” said Jeremey Wolf, the Hannibal Jaycees President.

After the parade, the carnival opened.

There will also be fireworks Thursday night and concerts on Friday and Saturday nights.

Proceeds raised will benefit St. Jude Run for Quincy and Hannibal.
