National Tom Sawyer Days prepares to kick off
HANNIBAL (WGEM) - The National Tom Sawyer Days Festival is set to take over downtown Hannibal.
The event has become a staple for downtown businesses in terms of generating profit boosts.
The event runs from July 2 to July 6. The major impact of the event though, stands in the downtown area, as many businesses view it as the make-or-break time.
“The festivals are so important in driving business down to downtown Hannibal, and that’s really how we stay alive,” said Linda Studer, Mississippi Marketplace Owner. “That is a real bulk of our business, like we really also depend on our locals, but the festivals are really key to the success of our businesses down here.”
Studer added the National Tom Sawyer Days has become part of the big three that drives up business throughout the year. The other ones are the Folklife Festival and the Twain on Main Festival.
