QMG holds ribbon-cutting ceremony at new dermatology location in Hannibal

HANNIBAL (WGEM) - Quincy Medical Group is expanding its reach in Missouri.

QMG held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday for its new dermatology location in Hannibal at 3531 Stardust Drive.

The facility brings specialized skin care closer to home for residents.

The new clinic is open with providers including Certified Physician Assistant Jim Wheeler that focus on dermatological needs like skin checks and specialized skin concerns.

“We treat everything from acne and rashes, we go all the way up to doing routine skin checks for cancer prevention, we treat skin cancers and there’s a lot that we do in addition to that,” Wheeler said.

The expansion aims to enhance access to care for the Hannibal community, providing a local option for dermatology needs.

“We understand it can be very difficult sometimes to get a dermatology appointment from what we’ve heard, so we want to be able to expand our availability and open access to care for everyone and help contribute to the community,” Wheeler said. “When I was at our Quincy location most recently, we do have a lot of patients from Hannibal that made the trip across the river to come over and see us in Quincy, so we wanted to be able to see them here in Hannibal and also to pick up on some of those people that are in outlying communities that maybe can’t get to Quincy but could possibly get to Hannibal so that we can take care of them as well.”

QMG plans to expand options at the clinic in the future with gastroenterology and ear, nose and throat and services this summer.
