Makenzi Henderson is an Evening Anchor at WGEM News. She is an award-winning journalist with 12 years of experience working as an anchor, reporter and producer.
Her career has taken her from the Black Hills of South Dakota and the shores of Lake Superior to the coast of the Atlantic and the home of Fixer Upper.
Makenzi has covered many stories over the years, the most memorable being Hurricane Harvey. Her station in Waco sent her down to the Texas Gulf Coast where she reported on the Category 4 storm as it made landfall on Aug. 25, 2017.
She has earned several awards during her career, including RTDNAC’s 2015 Anchor of the Year for the Carolinas, and the 2010 Great Plains Associated Press Spot News Award for her story on Greenpeace protestors who hung a President Obama poster on Mt. Rushmore.
Makenzi is honored to call the Tri-States home. When she’s is not telling your stories, she is usually hanging out with her two dachshunds, Marte and Stella.
