Kitten rescued from floodwaters by RV park manager, residents

PERKINSTON, Miss. (WDAM/Gray News) - As Tropical Storm Arthur brought heavy rainfall and flooding to South Mississippi, residents sprang into action to save a kitten’s life.

By 2 p.m. Thursday, the floodwaters at Perk Beach RV Park and Campgrounds in Perkinston were chest-deep. Still, the park manager and others stepped in to help the kitten to safety.

After the kitten was rescued, WDAM journalist Delaney Dukes helped dry the cat with a towel and handed it off to be cared for.

Preliminary reports showed that rivers across the region hit historic crests and damaged at least one dam.
